Are you searching for the perfect exercise? One that is efficient in time and space, substitutes for your running and biking during inclement weather and takes your fitness to the next level? In the program below you will build up to 10 min. of continuous jumping 3-5 days per week to maximize the benefits of rope jumping.

First establish a jump rope proficiency of 120-160 turns per min. with the Basic Bounce and Alternate Foot Step. Then practice the High Knees, Side Straddle and Skier’s Jump. When using the program below your goal is to eliminate the active rest periods and increase the time for combos #1, #2 and #3.

Program

1 Min. Warm up: Jump without rope (or with rope to side of body)

2.5 Min. Combo #1
  • 4 Bounce Step
  • 4 Alternate Foot Step
  • Repeat

    1 Min. Active rest: Jump without rope or do pushups

    2.5 Min. Combo #2
  • 4 Side Straddle
  • 4 Skier’s Jump
  • Repeat

    1 Min. Active Rest: Jump without rope or do sit-ups

    2 Min. Combo #3
  • 8 Basic Bounce
  • 8 High Knees
  • 8 Alternate Foot Step
  • 8 Skier’s Jump
  • Repeat
